Samoa trip cancelled

Tuesday, March 17th, 2020 in News.

Dear John Paul College community

This afternoon Patrick and I advised the students, parents and teachers planning on going on the service trip to Samoa that it can no longer proceed.

Like the 1 st XV trip that was cancelled on Saturday we will work with our wonderful travel agent Kay to try and recover as much of the trips costs as possible from the airline and accommodation providers.

While those involved in the Samoa trip are extremely disappointed, they were also conscious of the risk Covid-19 would pose to Samoa.

The Prime Ministers statements over the weekend included reference to likely travel restrictions to Pacific Islands to help protect them from Covid-19.

She has also been clear in her message that ‘.. if you do not need to travel, then don’t. I would like to acknowledge the positive and generous response of the students, teachers and parents involved to this disappointing news.

Ngā mihi
