Newly hatched cicadas burrow into the ground where they nourish themselves on tree roots for as long as seventeen years before emerging into the sunlight. ‘Seventeen’ was a very pivotal time in my life, and cicadas are a perfect symbol of this. Much like cicadas, I have lived 17 years learning and growing “protected” by my environment. Now it’s time to start thinking about my future, leaving home and “emerging into the sunlight.”
We will email you when your artwork is ready for collection (early in Term 4). Thank you.
