Mā mua ka kite a muri Mā muri ka ora a mua -Those who lead give sight to those who follow. Those who follow give life to those who lead.
Wednesday the 13th April, was an emotional day at school, as the students bid farewell to Principal Patrick Walsh and Mrs Paulene Walsh in a final assembly. This is after 19 years of leading our school and being integral part of our Catholic community. We celebrated students’ successes and sang our new school song “Mauria Te Pono”. A student representative from each year level spoke on behalf of their peers, thanking Mr and Mrs Walsh for all they have done for our Kura. In his speech Mr Walsh mentioned his joy at seeing our school develop and grow in biculturalism. This was followed by the Year 13 and our Kapa Haka Roopu performing our school Haka. They did this with more power, volume and emotion than we have ever seen before at Te Kura o Hoani Pāora. We could feel the earth shaking underfoot! Mr Walsh also spoke about the privilege of seeing generations of students move through JPC and that he feels proud to be leaving the school in a good place for generations to follow.

We wish you all the best in your position as Headmaster at Sacred Heart College in Auckland. They are extremely lucky to have you.
