On Wednesday, the newly selected Junior Leaders attended their first Leadership Retreat Day in the idyllic surrounds of the Tyburn Monastery at Ngakuru. The theme of the Retreat was “Servant Leadership” with a focus on the Lasallian pillars of Faith, Service, Community and Excellence. The Retreat began by joining the Tyburn community in their Chapel for Mass. Mrs Fredricksen facilitated a workshop on the skills and attitudes of a Servant Leader, of which some time was dedicated in silence for the students to reflect on how they can use their God given talents in their role as Leaders. After lunch, Mr Chapman and Mr Hill organized for the students to participate in a service activity which was to clear the walking tracks through an area of bushland.
Sincere thanks to Fr Aidan Chaplain, Mother Rachel and the Tyburn community for their hospitality and unconditional support of the staff and students of John Paul College. We look forward to spending more days like today where students can further their faith while developing a heart for service.
