The JPC Senior A Volleyball team participated in the New Zealand Secondary School Volleyball National Champs in Palmerston North from 18 – 22 March. The girls played magnificently and came away with convincing wins over strong teams, finishing 5th overall in division 6. They were absolutely gutted to have lost the one game that would have seen them in medal contention, but quickly regrouped and worked together to make sure they didn’t lose again. Interestingly they easily beat the teams who ultimately won gold and bronze in the lead up, so it was a difficult lesson to learn!
I have been incredibly proud of the team and profoundly grateful for having Shanelle McCashin to help me manage the girls. Congratulations to Alexa Parris, Aria Renata-Horn, Eviarn Steiner, Jasmine McCashin, Michaela Benedicto, Tylah-Fern Toetoe, Angel Mathew, Angel Wang and Yu Kanomatsu (our amazing Japanese international student). The team behaved impeccably and did John Paul College proud, both on the court while playing or officiating games and off the court, supporting other local teams and making new friends.
Some of the year 13 players have had me coaching them since year 9, so it’s been a long journey to get to Nationals! Well done everyone, we certainly have come a long way and I’m super proud of your volleyball skills

Our senior A Volleyball gils competed in the NZSS Volleyball Champs in Palmerston North in March. During the week we played exceptionally well – everyone in the team played their part and everyone got some amazing points blocking, receiving, spiking and serving. We worked hard to win 8 out of our 9 games, with only one hiccup of a game. We placed 5th in our division and we are all very proud of our achievements.
