John Paul College is committed to safeguarding students, supporting their wellbeing and providing staff with the tools to support and shape learning in a digital environment. We will continue to use Linewize to assist us in keeping our students safe online.
The only way for us to have student protection and staff visibility guaranteed is with student owned and school managed Chromebooks. With this in mind, from this point on the only new devices we will allow to connect to our schools WIFI are Chromebooks in conjunction with N4L’s rollout of their Secure Access product to our school.
This will ensure devices connected to the WIFI are fit for purpose as a learning device and compatible with what we use in the school – Google Classroom / Classwize / Examnet etc. Many Apple devices have many problems with maintaining a stable connection and compatibility issues with the learning software and websites we use in school. We will continue to keep cellphones off our WIFI. This will provide a much more reliable and uniform learning experience for all students.
This year we will begin enrolling all year 7 & 8 student Chromebooks onto our Managed Google system with N4L’s assistance and moving through other year levels in subsequent years with 2025 being Year 7 to Year 9.
If you need assistance or recommendations regarding purchasing a Chromebook please get in touch with us at info@jpc.school.nz.
More information about how the school will manage Chromebooks responsibly for learning (only during school hours) will be available on this page in Term 4.
