At the end of this term, we are losing a beloved teacher Mrs Reardon. She has accepted a position to teach at Te Kura (the biggest secondary school in Aotearoa) as a correspondance teacher.
After talking to her, she shared her highlights from teaching at John Paul College for the last 16 years. “The highlight for me is seeing Legal Studies become a popular subject, especially in Year 13 where I often have 30 odd students. Many students have gone on to do law degrees and I often get requests for essays from students when they find out that they are covering the same concepts in first-year uni papers as we covered in Level 2 or 3.” During her time here she has taught Legal Studies, English, Careers, Business Studies, Economics, Social Studies, Tourism and Commerce all contributing to the legacy she will leave behind at JPC. She says that the thing she will miss most is the students. “ I love the banter of the classroom and I will miss that face-to-face teaching. I have a photo of all of my form classes since 2010. Fourteen Year 13 form classes. Remembering all the students I have taught over the years is pretty rewarding and I love it when students past and present say hi when I’m out and about. My husband reckons we can’t go anywhere without a JPC student recognising me.” She said “I thought I would end my teaching days at JPC but I have learned never to say never!” so maybe she’ll be back!? Mrs Reardon will be greatly missed and we would like to thankn her for all she has done for everyone
We sincerely wish you all the best for your future Mrs Reardon!during her time at JPC.
