On 3 July 2019 13 students and 3 adults departed from JPC for a 10 day cultural exchange trip to Hawaii.
This was the culmination of years of planning and fundraising. The support from the board, senior management team, whanau support group and students whanau was invaluable. Some of the highlights of the trip were performing at the Polynesian Cultural Centre, visiting Punahou School and meeting with some students, experiencing waka ama on the ocean and attending Mass at St Augustine’s Church. The trip enabled our students to showcase their culture on an international stage, engage with overseas students with a focus on indigenous culture and learn more about their polynesian connections.
