Covid-19 Lockdown

Tuesday, August 17th, 2021 in News.

Good Evening Parents/Caregivers

You will no doubt be aware by now our Prime Minister has announced that New Zealand will go into level four lockdown from midnight tonight for three days. The effect of this is that John Paul College will be closed for students and staff.

Our teachers have already prepared in advance for such an eventuality. It will not be necessary at this stage to have a detailed distance learning timetable in place. Your child’s teachers will, however, communicate to them their general expectations of work over the next three days.

If your child experiences anxiety or confusion please contact the school counsellors or year level Dean. We are here to assist you and your whanau over these three days. Please reassure your child that their teachers will take into account any missed assessments.

The College will closely monitor the situation as it unfolds. I wish to affirm, however, that the learning and pastoral needs of students is paramount in our planning. We will endeavor as far as possible to ensure they are well catered for. In the meantime take the opportunity to spend quality time with your children.

Nga mihi
Patrick Walsh – Principal
