This year’s annual Inter-Catholic College Cultural competition Chanel Shield took place on August 16th and 17th at St John’s College in Hamilton. The competition consisted of speeches, Bible reading, debating, drama and a quiz, which this year focused on the Gospel of John.
John Paul College had a team of fifteen students, Leo Schweizer, Skye Du Plessie, Ciara Griffiths, Arohanui West, Christa Kurian, Orla Walsh, Jessica Taylor, Adam Wong-Toi, Vedansh Singh, Brianna Lewis, Charlotte Hall,
Ashleigh Webb, Thando Mabhena, Liam Black & Hozanna Lopez, and were accompanied by Mr & Mrs Bloomfield and Mrs Thurston.
All the students did extremely well with Arohanui winning the Maori Perspective Speech, Ciara winning Junior Poetry, Adam winning the Impromptu Speech and the Drama Team winning the Drama event; we also had quite a few second places.
Overall we came out with the most points and so managed to win the Chanel Shield for the fourth year in a row.
Congratulations to all those involved.
