Last week our 3X3 Basketball teams headed over to Tauranga for the BOPSS Champs.
Three teams took to the courts across three divisions: Senior Boys Div 1, Senior Boys Div 2, and Junior Boys Div 1.
Our Junior Boys team consisting of only Year 9’s played some awesome games, winning their first game of pool play, and narrowly missing out on consecutive wins by just a point or so. They finished 7th of 10, but played with heart and are keen to return and take it out next year!
Our Senior Boys B team who played in Senior Division 2 had comfortable wins in pool play, placing them well for playoffs, then going onto the Bronze match. In a quick game like 3X3 Basketball, you can never be too far ahead, as things change so fast! This was evident in our 10 point lead, eventually turning into a 4 point loss, gaining us 4th place in Division 2.
Our Senior Boys A team also had a competitive pool in Division 1, but their skill was second only to one team, finishing pool play in 2nd place. They were itching for that Final playoff, though, but due to the amount of teams in their pool, and time restrictions, they went straight to crossover finals, where they won their Bronze match, finishing 3rd out of 12! So, basically top tier in the Bay! 🤷🏽♂️
It was a great day all round! I’m proud of all the boys and the way they represented the college!
